We are pleased to announce that our 3rd Annual “Flavors of Chemistry” will be occurring on Saturday, September 30th at the UC Davis Activities and Recreation Center, the same location as last year). The event will occur from 1-5pm.

We are planning on having a tasting of coffee in collaboration with Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters. The coffee tasting will feature Chocolate Fish’s well-known nitro brew tasted with a cold brewed coffee- both using coffee beans of the same origin to emphasize the taste difference acquired through the nitro brew process.
Selina Wang, Assistant Adjunct Professor of Food Science and Technology and Research Director of the UC Davis Olive Center will speak about “Olives.”
Howard and Sally Peters, known as Mr. and Mrs. Chocolate and winners of the 2016 Helen M. Free Award for Outstanding Public Outreach, will speak about “Chocolate.”
We are working to set-up tastings with each of the talks. We will also use this event as an opportunity to honor those members of our section who have 50 or 60 years of ACS membership, our High School Teacher Award winner, and our Volunteer of the Year.
A tentative schedule is:
1-1:45pm Registration and Coffee Tasting (coffee tasting by Chocolate Fish with pastries from Common Grounds)
1:45-2:15pm ACS Sacramento Awards including 2017 ACS Sacramento High School Teacher of the Year Award James Hill
2:15-3pm Coffee: Dr. Bill Ristenpart
3:15-4pm Olive Oil: Dr. Selina Wang
4:15-5pm Chocolate: Howard and Sally Peters
