RESEARCH TECHNICIAN/LABORTORY RESEARCH ANALYST

BIOANALYTICAL METHODS

Immediate opening for an exciting position in small molecule bioanalytical methods in an NIH-funded academic laboratory at Duke University, Durham, NC. The overall laboratory program involves basic, translational and clinical research on the metabolism, transport, toxicology, and clinical effects of anesthetics, analgesics and related drugs. The laboratory develops and implements analytical methods to support both basic and clinical studies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform quantitative analysis of drugs/metabolites in biological matrices using LC-MS/MS according to research protocols or SOPs

  • Develop, validate and implement new bioanalytical methods

  • Routine and preventive instrument maintenance and analytical method troubleshooting

  • Meticulous recordkeeping, organization, and traceability of results and reports

  • Communicate results in internal and external environments, including analysis and preparation of results for publication, and analytical method reports for grant applications and publications

Required Education and Qualifications

  • B.S. in Chemistry (Analytical/Bioanalytical) or related field. Experience and demonstrated expertise may substitute for degree requirements

  • minimum 3 years full-time lab experience in high sensitivity, quantitative, high-throughput, small molecule analytical methods

  • Expertise in LC-MSMS methods development, methods implementation, methods troubleshooting

  • Expertise in bioanalytical sample preparation methods, including solid-phase and liquid extraction and high-throughput technologies (96-well format)

  • Expertise in ABSciex LC-MSMS (Analyst) operation and troubleshooting

  • Computer skills (word/data processing) and ability to learn new software

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, multitask different projects, take initiative, identify and execute priorities and with adaptability, versatility, and a desire to learn

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Current authorization to work in the US
