Learn “Some Strange Things about Candy” with Dr. Steven Farmer, author of “Strange Chemistry”, then stick around for some creepy chemistry demos and a screening of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Dr. Steven Farmer received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of California, Davis. Currently, he holds the position of Professor of Chemistry at Sonoma State University. Dr. Farmer maintains an active research group, which focuses on chemical education, including increasing the public’s interest in chemistry through outreach lectures and a blog. Also, he is the author of the book, Strange Chemistry: The Stories your Chemistry Teacher Wouldn’t Tell You, which discusses the many ways chemistry shows up in our lives.
