The 16th annual R. Bryan Miller Symposium (http://chemistry.ucdavis.edu/seminar/miller_symposium/index.html), co-sponsored by the Sacramento Section of the ACS, was held at UC Davis on April 7-8. This symposium celebrated the legacy of Bryan Miller (http://blueline.ucdavis.edu/MillerSymposium/rbmillerbio.shtml) by bringing together researchers from academia, industry, research foundations and national laboratories who were studying biologically-relevant chemistry. This year’s plenary speaker was Tom Hoye from the University of Minnesota who gave a fantastic talk on the hexadehydro-Diels-Alder reaction. The event also featured a poster session where students from UCD, University of the Pacific, Sacramento City College, Sonoma State University and Pontificia Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile presented their research. In addition, the 2016 Alumni Lecture was given this year by Mako Masuno of Micromidas.
